PROJECT 2 | NEW WING EXTENSION

12kV - 2.5MVA Transformer Replacement

San Fernando General Hospital — New Wing Extension. Status: Installed and tested — not commissioned.

MY ROLE IN PROJECT EXECUTION

How the work was executed

Working with S. Persad Contracting Services Ltd., I led installation planning and coordinated the specialist activities, focusing on transformer positioning, the HV/LV interfaces, and assessment of the existing electrical infrastructure. The transformer has been installed and tested; commissioning remains outstanding. I recommended replacement of the existing switchgear after it was found unable to be racked out.

1 | Installation planning

Defined the sequence of installation and testing, including lifting arrangements, equipment inspection, LV busbar alignment, and earthing.

2 | Coordination

Coordinated transformer positioning and the HV/LV interfaces, and liaised on the work needed to progress towards commissioning.

3 | Testing

Managed specialist transformer testing — insulation resistance / polarisation index, turns ratio, winding resistance, bolted-connection resistance, and an oil sample.

4 | A critical catch

Identified the existing switchgear's inability to rack out and recommended its replacement — a limitation that must be resolved before commissioning.

BY THE NUMBERS

Numbers mean little. Code compliance means more.

Years behind a panel are only useful if the work passes inspection. You'll find what we've actually done, verified, and stood behind.
